
La Désirade is one of the five islands that make up the Guadeloupe archipelago. It is located on the edge of Grande Terre (in front of the Pointe des Châteaux in Guadeloupe). Souffleur Beach is another sublime beach that looks like a postcard. Rows of coconut trees, turquoise waters and fine sand await you. Its name echoes its exposure to Atlantic winds.
The exceptional panoramas of La Désirade
The spectacular views of Notre Dame du Calvert are perhaps the most beautiful on the island. The panorama is absolutely exceptional. It dominates the entire western part of the island and overlooks Pointe des Châteaux and Grande Terre, Sainte, Marie-Galante and Dominica.
This breathtaking view extends all the way to Martinique on a clear day. An orientation table guides you through the locations of each island. The village of Beausejour below, the lagoons and the coral reefs enhance this panorama.
At the western tip of the island, Pointe des Colibris, is the place to go to enjoy the most beautiful sunsets. The waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic meet here. The waves crash on the rocks giving a magnificent spectacle under a magnificent twilight sun on the horizon line.
La Désirade or the natural biological wealth par excellence
During your visit, you will be surprised by the diversity of animals and plants that you will discover. The Lesser Antillean iguana is the most famous species on the island. Endangered, you will be able to see it evolve and admire it in its natural environment.
Goats, golden hares, small red land crabs and seabirds are also an integral part of the wildlife in La Désirade. The island has the particularity of being home to more than 270 species of seabirds.
